Would you like some tea?

Happy Mother's Day

I remember when I was growing up, my paternal grandmother had a ring with each of her six children's birthdstones on it. While the style was nothing special, the concept has always stayed with me. When James Avery came out with their 'Remberance rings' I was so excited because I like the look of smaller rings worn together. This morning my 3 sweet little boys came running excitedly into our room each carrying a ring. While the twins were happy to give me their rings, Peyton wasn't so willing to give his up! Parker & Pierce were born in July, so for them I have a ruby. Peyton came along in February, the month represented by amethyst. I wanted an odd number because I think that looks best, so I also have the blue topaz, the stone for mine and Scott's December birthdays.

After starting our morning off with the rings, cards, hugs and kisses, we got dressed and went to church. The children's choir put on a play which was darling. Once we got home, Mom and Dad joined us for brunch. Scott and Dad cleaned up the kitchen and we got to visit. We gave Mom the in-styler curling iron and a gift card to Ulta. I can't wait to see how she likes it! Once Peyton went down for a nap, Mom and I snuck away and did a little shopping.

Mommy & Me

Mother's Day~

As I'm updating my blog and thinking about Mother's Day tomorrow, I am reflecting on what motherhood means to me. My dear friend, Alexis, sent me a card with a line that stands out to me, "Motherhood is not for women who refuse to believe in miracles, or tomorrows, or themselves." For me, if I had not believed in God's miracles, I would not have my precious twins. After many IUI's, 1 round of IVF, and a couple of miscarriages, we were on our last chance...1 more attempt at IVF. I finally, FINALLY, turned all my worries over to God and we were blessed with twin boys in July 2004. Having gone through all of these procedures we were left thinking we'd be a family of 4, however, we were pleasantly surprised! Almost 3 years after Parker & Pierce were born we learned we'd be adding another baby to our family. In February of last year, Peyton Scott was born and he is our 3rd little miracle! My favorite saying is "My hands are full, but my heart is overflowing!"
Now I must admit, while motherhood has been everything I'd hoped for and more, I'm a bit surprised at the challenges I've faced along the way. I never thought we'd be in ER with a 15 month old who had a broken arm. Nor would I have anticipated another trip to the hospital with the twins who decided to eat pieces of a light bulb the same week we found out I was pregnant again. I am a master at transformers, I know every superhero that EVER existed, and I'm great at making dinosaur sandwiches. Some things I don't know that I'll ever get used to though, are bugs, worms and frogs!!!! EEEK!
Earlier this week Pierce asked me, "Mommy, is it Mother's Day at your school, too?" I said, "We are getting ready for Mother's Day, too." He excitedly replied, "I'm making you a teapot, do you like tea?" Of course my response was, "I LOOOOOOOOOOVE tea!!!" Guess I know what I'll be getting tomorrow...=)
Our first baseball season has come to an end, and just in the nick of time...boy, was it HOT today! The boys have learned a lot about the game so it will be interesting to see how next season goes. I'm leaving it up to them as to whether we will try soccer in the fall, or play another season of t-ball. Needless to say, they have enjoyed every second of being ball players!
It's not how BIG you are, but how BIG you play!
